History
Legacy beyond all over the world. Here is the glorious history of ISAA.
Ibrahimpur Ishwar Chandra High School. In 1923, in Azim Nagar village of Harirampur Thana, under Manikganj district (then a subdivision), three landlord brothers—Babu Purna Chandra Chakraborty, Babu Jogesh Chandra Chakraborty, and Babu Jotish Chandra Chakraborty—established a school to promote education in the region. They named the school after their late father, Ishwar Chandra Chakraborty. This institution is now widely known as Ibrahimpur Ishwar Chandra High School. At that time, there were no educational institutions in the area. Without the establishment of this school, the children of the local population would not have had the opportunity to pursue education. Thanks to this institution, the region has produced internationally renowned scientists, doctors, engineers, educators, judges, industrialists, professionals, intellectuals, and businessmen—enlightened individuals shaped by the light of knowledge. We extend our sincere respect to those visionaries who took this noble initiative to establish Ishwar Chandra High School, creating educational opportunities for the vast population of this region.
From 1923 to the present, everyone who has had the opportunity to study at this school is considered a student of the institution. Those who are currently studying are known as present students, while those who have completed their education here are former students. Today’s students will become former students in the future.
Becoming a former student does not mean that one’s responsibilities toward the school, its students, or the community come to an end. On the contrary, we believe that after completing school and establishing oneself in society, these responsibilities increase manifold. Fulfilling these duties requires the collective efforts of former students. To take unified initiatives, an organized platform is essential.
Recognizing this necessity, a former students' organization named "Anik" was first established in 1984. This organization played a significant role in uniting the alumni of the school and actively contributed to various social welfare activities, earning widespread appreciation. Over time, several other alumni associations emerged, such as “Pragati Chhatra Sangha”, “Lal Panth”, and “Spandan '77”, each primarily representing different graduating batches. The shining star of the golden era of Ibrahimpur Ishwar Chandra High School, former headmaster Mr. Abdul Majid often spoke about bringing all former students under the banner of “Anik” to form a large, unified organization. However, due to inconsistencies between Anik’s constitution and the broader objectives of such a union, this vision could not be realized.
The need to unite the vast alumni community of Ibrahimpur Ishwar Chandra High School into a single organization had been felt by many for a long time. Over time, this necessity transformed into a collective demand of all former students. On 1st January, 2010 during an event organized by the “Spandan '77” batch, this need was felt even more deeply. On that very day, at Ramna Batamul in Dhaka, under the presidency of the highly respected former headmaster Mr. Abdul Majid a historic decision was made to establish a universal alumni association for all former students of the school.
Following this decision, a convening committee was formed with former headmaster Mr. Abdul Majid as theConvener and Dr. H. I. Lutfur Rahman Khan as the Member Secretary. With the unanimous approval of the convening committee, the organization was named "Ibrahimpur School Alumni Association", abbreviated as "ISAA".
